The Seniors Activity Society owns and operates a bus for the purpose of supporting its members with transportation challenges. The activity bus will pick up people at their homes and take them to various locations so they can socialize and get out of the house. Maintaining social contacts has been identified as a key component to healthy aging.
Regular activities:
Monday - Ayre Manor residents are driven to activities, shopping & lunch
Tuesday & Thursday - Seniors bingo & lunch at the Sooke Senior Drop-in Centre Wednesday - special trips (up island attractions, shopping, Sidney, Matticks Farm Butchart Gardens)
Friday - Victoria to shopping centre or beach Last Sunday of month - out for supper somewhere outside of Sooke
The Seniors Activity Society have coordinators that organize the special events. You must have membership to ride bus. Membership $15/yr.
Special events are charged an additional fee based on the trip. By way of example, a trip to Victoria would be around $6.00 per trip and a trip to Chemainus approx. $15.00.
The bus is wheelchair lift equipped.
The Seniors Activity Society pays their drivers. They are currently in need of a couple of names for causal, support drivers.
